The talks come as Afghan President Hamid Karzai also visits Pakistan in a bid to press for that country's cooperation. Pakistan is vital because the leaders of both the Taliban and the affiliated Haqqani network are thought to be based in the country and in contact with Pakistani intelligence officials.
But I'm afraid that there is no making peace with these people, and everyone knows that. The only chance the government has of achieving peace and stability in the country is to smash the Taliban into pieces.
Ya, sure..and, today, it feels like it's OUR gov't which Obama and his people'd rather smash to pieces rather than (GOD FORBID) hurt the Taliban, right? @(#$*&@(*$&
